What is content marketing?
Content marketing is a way to speak directly to potential customers through content you post online. The most common way to consistently produce content is through a blog. A regularly scheduled blog post will:
- Establish you as an expert in your field by providing high quality information.
- Let search engines know that your site is up to date, and that you are actively maintaining it.
- Drive traffic to your site by utilizing keywords that customers are using in search engines.
- Attract web traffic from social media through likes and shares of your posts.
- Grow you email lists with use of a sign up form on each post.
Posting once or twice a month is plenty, just be sure that you are consistent. You want to let search engines know that you are regularly maintaining your website. Sites that sit dormant for long periods get pushed down in search results, and you don’t want that!
How do I manage a blog?
If you are comfortable writing your own blog, that’s great! Learning to do your own keyword research is pretty straightforward, and a good website designer will be able to guide you through the process.
If you are too busy to write for your business, working with a professional blogger is your best option. We offer that service at Commotion Art with our monthly maintenance plans!
Once your content marketing is being produced, you’ll need a way to manage all of that great information. The best content management system, or CMS, available is WordPress. This system is:
- Easy to use
- Great for SEO
- Free and open-source
- Can be used with any web hosting provider
- Requires zero coding ability
The only drawback to using WordPress, from a designer’s point of view, are the templates used to build websites. While templates, or themes, can be rebranded to fit with your marketing – they still aren’t custom designed for you and the layout will be limited.Free eBook — 5 Things You Can Change on Your Website to Generate Traffic
